President Charles White, DD of Wabash College at Crawfordsville, Ind died at his residence in that place on the 29th of October of apoplexy.  In the fall of the year 1840, the Rev. Elihu Baldwin, DD the processor of Dr. White died soon the latter took charge of that institution at which time we were a student at the same and from that day to this have well known the venerable White to be a great, a learned and a good man.  Few in the great West are his equal and in his demise the State has lost an invaluable scholar, teacher and divine that institution a benefactor whose place cannot be supplied and his family more than the world can give – Ft.
